Little Guy Can Win Too says Retired Broward School Teacheradmin / 0 Comments /
Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. – Andrew Greene, a retired Broward school teacher whose claim for damages against Merrill Lynch was upheld by a FINRA arbitrator, says the result proves that the “little guy can win too,” when taking on big institutions.
Greene was celebrating the recent decision by a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) arbitrator, after his attorney Mark Tepper filed the claim for damages last July. Merrill Lynch had recommended BreitBurn Energy Partners LP. [OTCMKTS: BBEPQ].
“I was delighted when my attorney Mark Tepper told me that we had won my claim. As a small investor, I’m so grateful to Mr. Tepper. Other attorneys I had interviewed thought my case wasn’t big enough but Mr. Tepper took my case and we won! If I hadn’t found attorney Mark Tepper to represent me, I’d have nothing,” Greene said.
The FINRA arbitrator awarded Greene compensatory damages, pre-judgment interest, expert fees, attorney’s fees to be determined by the court, and reimbursement of the filing fee.
“Mr. Tepper told me that when he takes a case it’s about working to right a wrong. It’s not just about how much is lost,” Greene added.
“I look at a case on the merits of the claim. An individual investor losing under $100,000 has as much right to representation as a wealthy investor losing millions,” Mr. Tepper, a former New York Assistant Attorney General and Chief Trial Counsel at the Bureau of Investor Protection and Securities, said.
